Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were notified by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.

Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

Municipal representatives announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for details.

A high-ranking official commented the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This event hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
