19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This represents the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle earlier this year.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform positively, backed up by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.
The opponent defended four early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
