Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan has experience in Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Planners groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
